Washington – Today, Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-04) released the following statement on the House's upcoming Continuing Resolution:
"Speaker of the House Mike Johnson has announced a new Continuing Resolution to fund our government through late December. I have worked publicly and behind the scenes in recent weeks with Rep. LaMalfa to have bipartisan disaster tax relief included in this funding bill. I am disappointed and frustrated to share that the Speaker has chosen not to include our disaster provisions in this funding bill, failing thousands of disaster victims across our country who await relief.
"Natural disasters aren’t a partisan issue. It’s wrong to tax disaster victims on the settlement money meant to help them rebuild their lives. Americans across our district and our country are in need of relief and I will continue to work for this legislation until it is signed into law."
