Washington – Today, Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-04) announced that he secured $1,383,069 for the Lake Hennessey & Deer Park Fuel Reduction and Community Infrastructure Protection project.
“The funding I secured for the Lake Hennessey & Deer Park Fuel Reduction Project is an important step towards modernizing infrastructure and providing our community with important fire mitigation strategies,” said Thompson. “I was glad to work with Napa County officials on this project to protect us from wildfires and improve evacuation routes. I look forward to seeing this funding help improve our region.”
"We are so grateful for Congressman Thompson's help in securing these important fuel reduction funds," said Vice Chair of the Napa County Board of Supervisors Anne Cottrell. "The project will help us protect residents around Deer Park and Lake Hennessey, as well as Adventist Health St. Helena Hospital, while building on the extensive work the County has done over the years to improve wildfire resiliency."
The Lake Hennessey & Deer Park Fuel Reduction and Community Infrastructure Protection project will reduce or eliminate hazardous fuels to reduce wildfire risk to the critical infrastructure of the Lake Hennessey Water Treatment Plant and Adventist Health Hospital in the Lake Hennessey and Deer Park areas of Napa County. In addition, State Highway 128, a key access and evacuation route, will be permanently improved for residents and first responders by managing the fuel load in this critical life safety corridor.
The other funding secured by Rep. Thompson for Napa County includes:
• $959,752 for the Water Treatment Plant Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System/Microgrid in St. Helena
• $800,000 for the Napa River Ecology Center
