Washington – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) announced that he has secured $320,000 in federal funding for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to conduct repairs on the Napa River McKinstry Floodgates.

“It’s absolutely critical that we have the most robust and technologically-sound flood protection for the city of Napa and the entire community. That’s why I have been working with the Army Corps and the County Flood Control and Water Conservation District to determine what repairs are needed and what funding can be provided on a federal level,”said Thompson. “Today I’m proud to announce we have secured more than $300,000 to make these critical repairs and provide much needed peace of mind to residents as we approach the winter storm season.”

“We continue to be thrilled and amazed by the tenacity and great work of Mike Thompson in addressing our community’s needs. His efforts in shepherding these federal funds through the Corps’ complex system to repair the Napa River Flood Project’s McKinstry floodgates is nothing short of incredible,” said Mayor Jill Techel, Chair of the Napa County Flood and Conservation District, Board of Directors. “As the winter storms come our way, we can rest easier knowing Mike Thompson is on the job and is working to complete the project. Many thanks to our great champion!”
