Thompson Votes to Eliminate Social Security Pension Benefit Rules Harming Public Servants
Washington – Today, Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-04) announced he voted to pass H.R. 82, the bipartisan Social Security Fairness Act, which repeals the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and the Government Pension Offset (GPO) rules impacting the earned benefits of many retired public servants like teachers, police officers, firefighters, emergency services personnel, other first responders, and federal, state, and local employees who worked in both covered and non-covered jobs during their careers.

Thompson, USDA RD State Director Maria Gallegos-Herrera, and USDA RD Northern California Area Director Jennifer Gooler presented leaders from across Sonoma County with information on Rural Development programs and services that are available to qualified rural Sonoma County communities.
